Silk Painters International (USA, SPIN) are planning a week-long silk painting Festival in Santa Fe, New Mexico in 2004. Members welcome to submit work - go to the silkinsantafe.com website, and contact Phillipa Lack for more details. In Phil's words, "It
will be the experience of a lifetime, believe me. Santa Fe is an amazing
place and should be visited.". "Santa Fe, a city of 63,000 people, is situated at 7,000 feet (3218 m) above sea level in a valley between the Jemez and Sangre de Cristo mountain ranges, and it is the oldest capital city in the US. Its rich history and cultural diversity is very apparent in its cathedrals, churches, buildings, and museums. Nearby is the small community of Abiquiu, where Georgia O'Keeffe made her home for many years. The town of Truchas, on the old High Road to Taos, boasts a growing art community. Taos is a one-hour drive to the north."
Let's see if we can get a group of Australians & New Zealanders to attend! Aussies and Kiwi Members wishing to attend can also contact Teena Hughes in Cairns at teena@abfab-australia.com, who will be running a Workshop at the Festival - details of other workshops with class descriptions appear on the silkinsantafe.com website.
